Default Biker's Prayer

The accident in Lancaster County that took the lives of 5 riders over the weekend grabbed the attention of many riders in the area. A lot of phone calls were being made prior to the release of the names. As anticipated it didn't take long to find a friend connected to the riders. During some of those phone calls the topic turned to is the risk worth it. That's something left up to each individual. For those who continue to ride here's a prayer inspired by this accident.

Angels of my Brother's and Sisters - By Mindi Wise-Lowrey

May the sun rise in front of me
May the rain fall behind me
And the wind follow me.

May the angels of my brothers and sisters
Who have gone before me
Guard my travels
For they know the perils
Of the road ahead of me.

Keep me safe through the rough city streets
On my way to the land of swirling turns
And rolling hills.

Let the colors of fall keep me warm
Let the eagle guide me to the mountaintops
Let the moons light guide me
Through the night.

May my tires not fail me
Nor my engine grow old
May my bike draw life
From the streams i pass.

Keep my seat soft and my mind sharp
Let the air of spring breathe life
Into my soul
To journey to another adventure
Besides my brothers and sisters.

It's not really a prayer if it doesn't refer to God, though it's a nice poem.

That was a tragedy in PA and I wish the families of the victims my sincerest condolences. The poem was nice too. I will print it out and hang it on the garage wall next to where my bike is parked.

We had "The Pilot's Prayer" in the Air Force. We said it before every flight. Now I say it before every ride. I liked it. I thought it was succinct and to the point. I included it below in case you'd like to use it too:

The Pilot's Prayer
Oh Lord, please don't let me f_ _ k up!
