Default New Jersey Cancel Motorcycle Inspections

With many states getting tougher on motorcycle inspections, I was surprised to get this in the mail a letter saying as of August 2010, NJ was cancelling the need for motorcycle inspections. I can even pull my inspection sticker off...

Copy of letter attached...

It actually says registration sticker. I guess they aren't going to hand then out anymore . Think of how much they'll save by not having those stickers.,,

Don't be surprised if they don't double or triple the fines for defective equipment now. And you're probably going to see more roadside inspection checkpoints.

I did. Liked Jersey better, but you can still visit NY for all the good stuff. Now live in Florida. Only good stuff is the weather. Well, that & no inspection for bikes OR cars!.

While going to inspection every two years wasn't a pita to me, getting pulled over to have roadside a inspection in every town looking to make $$$ will be. Would having your bike towed because your not wearing a DOT helmet with 4 inches of reflective tape on it ,sound like good times to anyone?.,,

I'm not pulling any stickers off until my registration is due next year.

I understand the letter states registration sticker, but to me a current registration sticker indicates my registration is current and has nothing to do with inspection. Also, to me, a current inspection sticker indicates the bike is currently inspected.

So no inspection needed = no inspection sticker needed.

You can read the letter posted above and you'll be getting one in the mail. It was explained to me that you no longer need any stickers on your plate. If the police want to know if your bike is registered, they will run your plate just like they would do on your car.,,

I got my letter on Saturday. I think the state indicated to remove the wrong sticker.
