Default H-D employee "let go" after being in bike accident

Hey all, it's been quite a while since I've been here.

Hate to come only to bring some **** poor news, but I think this is something that we as motorcycle enthusiasts should know of. Rather than take the time to explain, I'll just refer you to the thread where I read it.

Well, it may suck what they are doing but it is not against the law as some suggested on that forum. As business has a right to fill a position of an employee who is on disability so that they can do business as usual. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

You guys make it sound like the reason he was let go was because he was in an accident on his bike. As if somehow had he been in a car instead, he wouldn't have been let go.

Sucks for your friend, but as mentioned, the business has a right to fill his position as to stay in business.

I expect Sheriff's Dept. is liable for the lost wages, & their insurance company will necessarily reimburse him.

The thread title says "HD" employee let go, I think it was a dealership employee not HD.

Yeah but it's more inflammatory if the implication is H-D did the firing.

From what I got reading his posts he was a probationary employee
and may have been on shaky ground already. No recourse for that
I'm afraid.

I don't know anything about the guy or the dealer other than what was in that post.
I don't know what his injuries are but if it was something serious he would have listed it. Sounds like a whiner to me, using the accident as an excuse for not going to work.

I didn't post this to get a "he should sue the dealer" response. I understand that he was on a probationary status, it just seems silly that a bike shop would "let go" a biker from not being able to return to work as of yet because he got hit while riding his bike.

piasspj- That's a pretty silly thing what you just posted. A whiner? Dude, you can't go back to work when the doc says no when you expect insurance to pay for your ****.

Less than the 90 days requires, makes him a temp. There's no reason or requirement to reserve a position for a temp.

It sucks, but that's how business works.
