Default New Drivers

Just this past saturday I had a kid in a pick up cut me off pretty bad to where I almost had to jump a curb. I am so thankful that I was just getting started out at maybe 10 MPH still in first gear.

We where both sitting at a Red light He was on the other side with his left turn signal on. The side I was on had 3 lanes Left Middle and right. The light turned green I just started out still under 10 MPH and this freaking kid hauled *** cut off the people going straight and almost ran me off the road.

I slowed down let him pass took a deep breath and went on my way. This is a huge change for me. The old me would have flipped out on the kid or even chased him down. But I try to keep a level head while riding.

Moral of the story I hate stupid people. As someone once said "Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid" John Wayne

There has always been stupid drivers. There are just more of them. The same thing can be said of motorcycle riders.

My son got a ticket for that kind of move when he was 17. Thankfully, he learned from his stupidity and hasn't pulled that move since. He's 35 now, and a good driver. Some people don't learn, though!

People don't surprise me anymore. Bad drivers and unskilled riders.

Keeping a level Head does work better .. Sometimes may run into a couple of dumb episodes like I did last week no sooner had a lady try to share the same lane with me fortunate could gun it and get away from her before she totally took up the lane totally oblivious that I was there .. At the Next red Light had another cager turn left in front of me but was actually expecting it after the first episode so fresh in my head..

People seem to be more distracted by other things. Thinking about jobs, paying bills, relationships and kids causes driver and riders to not pay as much attention to their driving.

MSF course should be required before getting a motorcycle endorsement.

In CT come 1/1/11 it is required for all new riders. I just finished mine last month. I do use what I learned and allot of it. Worse is that I notice others mistakes as good as I notice mine. I keep a log of the past 15-20 trips I took. of What I did right or wrong.

I am also taking a class on basic motorcycle repair/Maintenance this up coming spring.

Ditto. Road rage with a cager just isn't worth the risk no matter how stupid they are.
