If it doesnt start for soem reason I will be up there a few weeks before the event starts, I will sleep in the boonies 100 miles away from Sturgis I did not like sitting in traffic trying to get to Glenco camp grounds after a nice day of riding.

TOK - you should be passing right by me on your way. Care to link up with some of us when you hit Colorado?

Anyone know what the story is for hotel/motel rooms? Are they booked already for 2011? I would be okay with camping in a tent, but if rooms are available I would gothat way.

Just checked and it looks like the dates next year will be August 8-14th. I will only be going for a few days - can't imagine wanting to stay the full week. Does anyone have definite dates planned yet?

You can easily stay the whole week and not even see a tenth of what the Black Hills has to offer. Downtown Sturgis is just a part of the whole adventure. Concerts every night from top bands at several campgrounds, great roads to ride each day, a whole day at No Panties Wednesday at Hulett, Wyoming....well, you get the idea.

P.s. Bring lots of money.

Plans change. We got rooms in Custer on Yahoo Hotel search in 2006, that came up the first weekend when someone who had reservations couldn't make it. The original price was quoted at $150 per night....we paid $99.

No matter where you stay in the Black Hills, you are in easy driving distance of Sturgis. The whole area is only about 50 x 150 miles . Every road is scenic.

If you get there mid week, most campgrounds will have vacancies, and will offer them cheaper than "Sturgis rates." Don't be afraid to dicker.
