Hey OP, I'm in Evans and am going in 2011. If I ride rather than trailer (considering taking my 5th wheel for everyone to stay in, if my buddies from out of state will be there) I wouldn't mind hooking up with a group. Keep us all updated.

As it stands right now I also plan on attending from Denver. However a few friends of mine that go tend to trailer their bikes to our home town of Gillette WY which is about a 90 minute drive on i90 to sturgis. I wouldn't mind taking the trip up there on the bike. What path does everyone take? I would take 90 to just outside douglas and take hwy 18/20 to lusk then hwy 18/85 all the way to lead deadwood. I have driven this many times in a car to visit family in friends and they are nice roads off the interstate, however i would caution riding this at night as there are usually deer through the mountains all year around

Don't forget the antelope. Those little road rats are out there during the day in Wyoming.

I will be going from Portland, OR but I have 10 weeks off next summer so I will do it right. Get there before the rally leave before the rally and stop by on my way back home well after the rally. Too damm many trailers there. Too damm many people who only ride out there during the rally. The rest of the west is wide open for hotels and the scenic roads are empty during Sturgis Bike Week. I love Sturgis Bike Week.

My wife and I are heading out as well and it will be our first visit. We wouldnt mind riding out with some people but I was thinking of cutting through Wyoming on some of the backroads and avoiding the freeways as much as possible.

Based on Mapquest, my route from Colorado Springs will be:

North on I-25 into Wyoming, then US-18 to US-85.

Would be happy to set up meeting spots along the way with anyone who's schedule works with mine.

No way. I went this year and it sucked compared to when I went in 2002. I'll wait until motorcycles aren't a big fad anymore before I consider going to Sturgis again.

Rode out with a friend from South Carolina in 2009 and wives flew and rode on the back. Next year wives want their own bike so we are trailering 4 bikes out. Wives still get to fly! Already have 4 nights reserved at Sturgis and 3 at Jackson Hole, Wy. I always like to reserve early to avoid disappointment.

In 2009 We stayed at the Iron Horse Inn in Whitehead, which is 5 miles from Sturgis. Decent rooms and covered bike parking in front of your room. If you book on line it will say must pay entire amount up front non-refundable. If you call them they will take your reservation and call you in Jan. for one night deposit with rest due I think in April. $250 per night with 4 night minimum. The shuttle also runs through there if you plan on drinking and don't want to risk a DUI.

Tent living is probably going to be my best option. Do they have camp sites within walking distance to town? I have seen pictures of what looks people camped in residents backyards! I would be up for that. Just going to need a spot of ground to pass out on!
