The VA hospital at Fort Meade has a good deal with the government. They get the land to build on and in return keep Fort Meade up. If you ride around back you will see that they have a small museum about Fort Meade and is worth the money.

Did you fellas ride your bikes there, or park the trailers a few miles down the road and go profiling into town? I hear the stacks of trailers can be a real road hazard. If I go, I ride there.

It is about 750 miles for me.

Don't laugh , last time I went to Sturgis in 1990 we stopped 20+ miles out for some gas and Arlen Ness's little caravan was off to the side unloading all the bikes out of a horse trailer and I kid you not , swear on a bible a couple of those pretty boys posers with him were squatting on the side dragging a bandanna in the dirt then slapping their jean legs trying to get the " I rode here " look just right .

Thought I was going to cough a lung up laughing so hard . They had me escorted out of the Broken Spoke for telling that story rather loudly while they were in there . It was worth it you should have heard the monkey calls clowning those guys afterwords .

TeacherMan , I made that trip a few times outa KC if you decide to go look into a diagonal route on the 2 lanes up through Nebraska through the Sand hills , nicer ride beats hell out of taking I-80 . Check a map it's worth it .

Can I laugh just a little? That's just too funny!

FYI: we were not on a typical Sturgis run...We just happened to be traveling home from Arizona during Sturgis week. We just purchased the motorhome, and it was a welcomed stop for us to enjoy our mini holiday. We purchased this motorhome so we can enjoy our eventual retirement and hiatus down in the southern states during the winter AND have the ability to bring our bikes. This motorhome will NEVER see Sturgis again.

And for your information, I will probably NEVER go to Sturgis week again...I don't like the crowds, I'd much rather be riding than hanging around there. I LOVE the Black Hills and that general area...Just dislike the Rally...Although the entertainment is great (some great names play there) but I am more about the riding than the partying... BUT, again... That's just me.

YOU call THAT bitch'n .. I call that sharing an experience and observation. THAT's what we do here.. right?.. at least the rest of us do....You on the other hand, I have no idea what YOUR motivation is. ... This could be a longshot but, given this last display of beating your chest to show how YOU fit into the 'biker' world ... I'd bet you're more about appearances than anyone so you feel like you fit in to what YOU think 'bikers' are all about.

I couldn't give aratazz about what anyone thinks what bikers are all about...I don't consider myself a 'biker' .. I JUST like to ride!
A+, the guy was way out of line. No doubt one of the keyboard warriors who thinks he's the only "real biker" in the World. Everybody else doesn't deserve to breath the same air as him, but when you meet him face to face it's a whole different story. Ride your bike, trailer it, take a motorhome, fly-in, I don't give a ****, it's not about what the other person does. Why is everybody so fricking worried about what other people do? I thought "being a real biker" was doing your own thing, period.

Bikergirl = nonbikergirl ------ Very interesting.

Is that similar to that "No means Yes" thing you women are so famous for?

Giving me the 'gears' about my 'stage name' again, I see.

Then, by your own standards as you've mentioned ... You consider yourself 'fast' ... Ed? Sometimes, you have to admit, buddy...when it comes to 'catching on' to what has been posted and the intention of the poster .. you're 'not so fast'....Ed. I wouldn't necessarily call that 'hypocritical' ... more like 'ironic'.

I don't think I really need to go through the motions of explaining what the so called 'biker' image is...THAT subject has been hashed to death here on this forum. Everyone seems to have a different spin of what exactly THAT is. Hung up on the value of the word "BIKER"? ... well then, when it comes to the definition or interpretation of the word as discussed on this forum on a regular basis .. NOPE, I am NOT biker..Don't wanna be. Some of those guys sound like real arsepicks!

Do I ride a bike..Well, yes... I do... Am I a 'girl' (well, yes, I guess technically, I am female, but not necessarily a 'young' female' which the word 'girl' implies)... AND, further, nothing about me is even 40 ... So again...using your logic..Perhaps that is confusing too for some of our other members not just you 'Notsofast' Ed.

My apologies for confusing your brain.

I don't think I have ever been one to mince words...and I doubt very much that anyone can confuse me with someone who says no but means yes. Sorry, I don't play THOSE games. Just not good at it. I pretty much just tell it like it is. I don't get the feeling that many of the women on this site play THAT game either. They seem pretty straight forward. I'm thinking, if you consider ALL women as the only one's who play it that way .... you're hang'n around the wrong kinda women. Quit bottom feeding!

16 ounce beers in Aluminum bottles (served by scantily clad women) for $6 each doesn't sound too bad

Man, that is funny! Kind of sad, though.
By the way, I really don't care how you get there. Just asking's all. Some people have arthritis or have back issues, or have been creamed by a cage a time or two, and just can't log the miles any more. Heck, that makes sense. It would be nice to sleep in a plush RV and shower off all the road dust, stale beer and/or various and sundry body fluids from the day's activities.........

Also, I think it means Harleys have come to appeal to a wider segment of society, which is good for H-D.

I just am not much on costume parties.

I wish it weren't 20˚ out. Friday evening it was in the 50s, and I got out for a bit, but my bike doesn't seem to run right in December.......
