Back in the 80s my rotors would rust were the pads rubbed. On my newer bikes 04 and 05 this does not happen . So does this mean I can take them to a buffing wheel and shine them up like chrome ?

You should look into a super cool chrome headstone too ...maybe some gold leaf ..!!!
Then go dig a hole and throw yourself into it...
If by some weird fluke you really do have a Harley , please bring it back to your local dealership... thank you for your cooperation ...
sincerely,
troll and wee todd locating task force...

Yes, just make sure that you use a high grade lubricant on the mating surface...otherwise there will be all kinds of friction built up between your brake pads and rotors ...

Obviously you are too... !!!
You are either a complete troll or you are joking or you should not be operating a motorcycle..

I'm not one to jump someone's **** but........why the hell would EVER think of polishing a brake rotor??????? Even my g/friend who is mechanically illiterate asked why would you want to polish your rotors and she rolled her eyes..........

so is it a troll or someone who grew up on a steady diet of quaaludes and paint chips ...?
Maybe he just wants to reduce the friction on his brake pads so that they last longer ...?
See what overdosing on chrome will do to you ... HEY KIDS.. this is your brain on chrome... another damn chromosexual...

I know I'm not as smart as some of the other posters here but maybe, just maybe, the original poster was talking about polishing the non-braking surfaces..... After all, Harley does sell polished rotors.

Otherwise he would be referring to the carriers, not the rotors themselves.
you might be right about the first part of your post...

Regardless, those rotors from the Moco are polished in their entirety, as were the ones I just put on my Road Glide. In fact the chrome rotors on my brother's Fatboy were chromed in their entirety and work fine. What's the issue?
