Default Santa Fe 2011

Well, 2010 is just about over and my wife and I are already planning new adventures for 2011.

We are looking to hit New Mexico this year and thought about Santa Fe, Taos, etc..We will be coming through from Springerville, AZ and we wanted to start asking those of you some ideas, roads to ride, places to see, food, etc.

We are planning on mid-May.

Thank you all in advance,

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Dont know about specific routes because I have found the best thing to do in NM is to just get lost...very cool place.

+1 there is not one bad place to ride a bike in Northern NM.
There is a 'high road' and 'low road' that connect Santa Fe with Taos. You can see them on a map. Low road goes by the Rio Grande and is shorter. Both are great rides. Lots of scenery and amazing little towns along the way.
For cheaper food in Santa Fe: Dave's Not Here, Baja Tacos; breakfast: Tecolote Cafe or The Shed.
I would try to go as late as you can in May and check the average temps. Spring comes kinda late there.
Santa Fe has a Harley dealer, fwiw.
There's an old church in Chimayo, near Espanola, NM that is very cool and lots of good rides in any direction.

Have fun.

Santa Fe is a real good choice. We rode from Durango, CO to Santa Fe, NM first week in June 2009. Weather was mid 70's. Santa Fe is a very cool artsy town. Be sure to ride through Los Alamos, Taos, Angeles Fire, Eagles Nest and Questa. Awesome riding and things to see.

We stayed at the Old Santa Fe Inn. Quirky but nice. Ask for the Honeymoon room. A lot of places to eat and drink. We ended up eating at the Inn of the Anasazi restaurant and it was real good.

HD dealership in town. Spent a few hours there while they were changing out my friends flat tire.

You and your wife should have a great time.

Can't think of a bad ride there either. Just go and get lost and explore

Don't forget Bandelier National Monument too. There is also a suspension bridge which crosses the Rio Grande in Taos which is incredible.

There is a ride called the "Enchanted Circle". It runs from Taos to Red River to Eagle Nest back to Taos. It has stunning scenery and in Angel Fire there is a Vietnam War Memorial that is very nicely done and well worth the visit.
