Did you start in a Harley or moved your way up to a Harley?

I started off many, many years ago on dirt bikes. By 11 I was racing MX and at the age of 16 I was working at a local Kawasaki & Suzuki shop and riding (but never) owned all types and styles of road bikes.
Then, last year, just out of the blue I saw a Wide Glide and knew it was time to buy a Harley.

Started on a Toat-Goat. Had several dirt and mid size street bikes before getting a 64 Duo-Glide in 69. Had many different makes since but they were always in addition to my Harleys. Haven't owned a 2nd bike for many years now but thinking about trying to pick up a cheap dual sport of some kind.

The 883 Sportster is my first Motorcycle ever..
I've never been on a Motorcycle prior to this but do have good skills on Mountain Bikes.
I know it probably isn't the BEST First bike according to most people, but circumstances of getting the bike inherited to me made the decision as my first bike for me.
Took the MSF course on a Buell 500 so the transition wasn't huge and so far so good. But I'm taking it very slow with lots of basic practice several times a week before getting out into heavy traffic.
