Thanks for the pics. Tells why bikes of that era that are in good shape are rare....they rode the hell out of them. Now you can see low-mileage HDs that are 15 years old without a single scratch.
Cool Sportster, an XLH, kind of a mini-tourer of the time. Back then, the XLH and XLCH were 2 distinctly different Sportsters. The 'CH was the hot rod that resembled the sporties were more familiar with. I'd love to have that XLH today. Wonder if it survived...

The bike on the far end in this picture is a 62 XLCH, and it was about the hottest bike around back then. I rode it right after he got it, and it about scared me. You are right though, most of those bikes were rode hard, and put away wet.

Here are a couple of pictures of two brothers at a hill climb in St. Joseph Mo. The first picture is of the one that was doing the ramp jump in the first pictures. The one on the blue Triumph is his brother. They made them wear helmets for the hill climb. LOL
