tour pins and patches and a sorry magazine...now no booze? how many members does HOG have-a million? at $40 a year, harley is making some big bucks out of this. at least my AARP magazine has some useful information and benefits and it's only $13 a year.

Yes, but instead of a sash for the merit badges, it's a vest with pins.

Well, the article in this issue that really pissed me off was the one titled "A Taste of HOG" by "Manager of HOG Administration," Joe Dowd. In it he talks about how this year's "Million Mile Monday" event needs to be bigger than ever and the way they want to do that is allow anybody on any bike to participate. WTF!? I thought this "club" was about Harleys? So, now, anybody on their ricer or Victory (sorry Shu) or Moto Guzzi can participate in the HOG (that would be Harley Owner's Group) event. If you ask me, the mag (among other things,) "jumped the shark" when the new non-rider guy got the job of Harley CEO.

Apparently not. And, as an added benefit, you can still wear your "VOG" patch.

i got my mag yesterday, and it was ok. i guess what i dont understand is if you dont want to join a local chapter then fine dont join. but why run them down. they are not for everone, me and my wife have a great time with our chapter but there are times where we just want to strike out on our own. some rides have a lot of members riding and some dont. yes there are rules when riding with the group but to me its just to keep everyone safe. i do the same thing with anyone else i am riding with. as for the national hog, i get enough discounts from at&t and motels not to metion a few other areas that it more then pays for itself. yes the mag. could do better but if enough people complain then you will probably see some changes. just my 2 cents.
