2 new tires and mounting and balancing? I am well aware that different brands cost different amounts. I want the Avon Venom's, but am not sure I have the scratch for them. Second choice is the Metzler's. I will have a better idea after reading this post. Well? I have read that some stealers charge $85 labor. I'd imagine that is per wheel? That would put 2 new tires in the $300 range. Especially seeing that I live on the Westside. I will certainly drive for a deal though. Any other L.A. people ?

I did the removal/install. Good time to check the bearings...

Great time to replace the bearings and seals. Given all the work to remove the wheels. Parts are cheap too.

Most harley dealers have great prices on dunlops tires and low price mounting, its a good thing to have a trained tech do the change out, belt adjustment and so on, my dealer charges 40.00 per wheel, why would you want sport bike tires, "venom" wont last long on a heavy bike, too soft, metzler 880's do much better.

I went with the Metz 880's. They really run great on our So Cal fwys and really negate all the rain grooves.
I'd recommend them whole heartedly. I got mine at HogPros. There's a place in Redlands that may have them cheaper though.
I'll PM you when I remember/find the name.

Here in Gdl. they change labor per hour ($30usd/h).

You can try the stealer in Irvine (by Westminster) they gave me fair prices there.

Regards.

Only about 800 miles so far so I can't really say yet.

In any event I'd trade the difference and confidence in riding with these Metz's for any mileage wear gain that the stock Dunlops might provide.

The ride difference is really like night and day.

I'm still figuring out what I'm gonna do.

My quote is as follows:

Labor rate=$95/hour

Rear tire with wide white wall = $179 + 1.5 hours labor
Front tire with wide white wall = $139 + 1 hour labor

Too damn much! [:@]

No need to replace bearings. If they are '99-back, they may need greased. If they are '00-up. They are lubed for life....What ever life is? Mine have 60k+ on them and are still fine on my RKC. My '77 has the original bearings. I just grease them every few tire changes.
