Can't go wrong with a wide solo. I got the 16.5 inch seat and It cradles my fat *** in perfect comfort regardless of distance. Back rest would probably be a nice comfort addition as well.

I hadn't rode much this winter, maybe 2000 miles and took my first nice day ride 2 Saturdays ago..500 miles in 1 day and mustang performed right...Wide touring...Might not be the most stylish but is comfy...Have you considered a Sundowner?

I have wide vintage solo that I use on my FXD for long trips. Longest on that seat was 1,056 miles in under 24 hours. (Iron Butt Saddlesore 1000)

Comfort trumped looks on the FXD, and I suggest the same for you.

FOR TRIPS,

FOR LOOKS,

Corbin,

Not trying to say any seat is better then another. I'm just giving him a choice & the Sport Tour is very comfortable. And, IMHO, fits the bike better. Now the OP can make his own decision. BTW, I have the wide vintage on my heritage & it fits the look. It's a sombrero on my FXST. I think the standard size vintage seat would work well for that bike.

But then again, at 6'4" & 275, if a lot of that weight is in his butt, go WIDE!

Heres an old pic.
