Default Question ?!?!?!

I have a '93 FLSTN Moo-Glide. Great bike. Love it. Now: I stopped by my nephew last night. He saw the bike and asked if he could sit on it. I SAID NO FU^%%^IN' WAY!! I went in to take a **** and just as I was coming out I SAW THE BIKE LEAN AND FALL!! Yea, the weasel f^&k got on it when I was in the house and did not put the kickstand all the way down. A slow motion lean and fall, but enough weight that the handlebar end put a 1"x2"x1/4" deep dent in the tank. (Yes, I have them rolled down to my comfort level) No paint cracks. I talked to a guy who said if he could get inside the tank with his "dent pusher" he could get it out, gauranteeing you would never know it. Now the question: Can the filler hole fixture (where the gas nozzle goes in when fueling up) be seperated from the tank itself? Or is it welded to the tank? I have $500 deductible on my insurance and guess what? I got estimates from 2 body shops and one was $450 and the other was $500 I am fu&^n' sick about this whole thing and my nephew said he would take care of it, but still, he is family Any ideas?

Thanx

Well, the kid should learn the hard way. If it's your sibling's son, let them pony up the money, and then have them work out a type of "program" whether it be money or work or charitable work or whatever until the "debt to society" has been paid.

I say most definitely have your nephew cough up the cash for it and avoid insurance. I understand he's family, but you did tell him not to touch it (I'm assuming he's older than 12 and should know "no means no").

If anything it'll be a lesson to him...

I take it that it fell over on the left side... the kickstand side. That side is where the gas gauge is... just remove the gas gauge and you have access to the inside of the tank. Be sure to keep the bike straight up so the gas doesn't leak out... I just rolled a dent out of mine that I got from flying debris on my last road trip. The answer to your question is no... the bung is welded in on the right side.

I would think removing the console on the tank and the panel under that would give you MUCH more room to work inside the tank

Sometimes lessons are expensive.

But they are lessons well learned

TOTALLY +1 with this statement! pay for it and get paid back. "family" be damned. Need to teach him a lesson. No means No!
