Do you ride safely or just 'think' you do?

I don't ride safely and don't think I do. I ride too fast, too aggressively. I split lanes when people are granny racing (sometimes 3 or 4 lanes across), I'll hit the shoulder to get around someone, I will intimidate drivers out of my way (and make a face at them when I pass), I'll even pass down the center line, between a car going in my direction and one coming towards me... if someone wants to race, I'm there... and even though I used to always be an ATGATT guy, to an extreme, I now most often ride in just jeans, t-shirt, boots, sunglasses....
... and I'm having a good time and don't give a rats *** what anyone else thinks about that.

Yes it does...just because you choose to ignore the data or pretend that riding without a helmet is somehow considered safe doesn't change the statistics.

Wandering around, I'm Dr. Jekyl. When I get on my bike, I become Mr. Hyde. While I still consider teh "what if"s, my only accident was due to me not being aggressive enough and trying to be a nice guy.

We all have friends that have been messed up badly. Since it is raining all weekend, I figured why not offer some advice not just to novice riders, but to all those of us who tend to get lazy after years of touring and forget some basic safety precautions; or are lulled into a doze while sitting on a landrocket.
