Default Oil residue in breather; 2001 TC88

When I run my 2001 bagger hard (highway speeds) I get oil residue in the bottom of my breather cover oily drip deposits timing cover under the breather. Burns about a quart every 1,000--if run hard.

This does not occur when run easy around town.

Before I take it the dealer, opinions? suggestions?

Pretty normal if you have the old style air filter backing plate that has the hose from the breathers coming into the bottom of the backing plate. The Screaming Eagle style has it coming into the throat of the carburetor, or EFI, so it will be sucked back into the intake and ignited in the heads.

There are a couple of options besides keeping your oil level a bit under full when hot. Replacing the umbrella valves inside the rocker boxes or using the new vent free rocker boxes from TP Engineering.

Definitely look at the umbrella vales. You shouldn't need to add oil between 5000 mile services.
