If someone likes the nanny state then seat belts and helmets laws are their poster child. Nanny state mentality.

First off, I dislike helmet laws. Always agree with the Choice argument.
And to be honest, I rarely wear seat belts in my car. My kids do all the time though.
But for fun, being board with all the same answers.... I'll state another view
1. Laws for Helmet and/or seat belts do not take away your freedom. You are still free to choose not to ride a motorbike or in a vehicle
2. There are many many existing laws for safety on the road. Requiring helmets and seat belts is not unlike requiring turn signals and headlights.
3. Many states require wearing safety glasses when riding a motorbike. But people don't get up in arms over that?
Carry on

There is a huge difference between requiring a person to take measures to ensure he does not harm others and requiring him to protect himself. Laws should be used to protect others from what I may do to harm them. Suggestions or warnings alone should be used to prevent me from harming myself.
