The issue I have with the Road Glide is there's not a chance to test ride one. Therefore unsure whether to make the change. Any feedback +/- is much appreciated.

ahhhh Surrey....
as in Surrey England? AKA the United Kingdom?
per the "official H-D webpage".... the FLTR, FLTRX, and FLTRU aren't imported onto the European shores, so, unless you can find a CVO version... I think you're stuck.

Come to the states, and rent one...see if you like it.... but that sure is a costly "road test"

Just as well..... the head lights and fairing don't turn when you turn the hadlebars.... the radio's on/off butt\on is so far away, you have to lean forward one or two whole inches...

the only difference is the way the fairing is mounted. that's what the "h" in flh is...for handlebar mounted fairing.

skootchnc is right that you might have to fully extend your index finger to change radio stations...also it took me awhile to get used to my car's headlights not turning in corners too...maybe the entire 1/2sec it took to make the turn...but after that i was cool.

I don't think there is any big difference in the handling. I've ridden both and at 80 mph the wind is not strong enough to give any idea if one is more aerodynamic than the other. If you were going 120 mph, then I think the wind cheating design might pay off, but not at normal road speeds.

I'm 6'6" and about 290 lbs. I'll take a RG over an EG any day (Eventhough I really like the EG). I started with an EG and after switching to the RG, i absolutely love the RG.

Having the fairing farther away makes me feel like I'm riding a motorcycle instead of a VW Rabbit. With the RG fairing being farther forward, I can actually adjust the bars forward and feel like I am not cramped. There were times I felt like I had to pull my hands BACK to adjust the radio.

As for the lights pointing straight ahead???? I guess I don't usually turn the bars when I take a turn on the highway. I tend to counter-steer...

On the RG, the other thing I noticed was how much lighter the forks and steering feel when you are at very low speed, such as in a parking lot or the such. On the highway, it feels pretty much the same.

Since you are comparing the RG to the Limited, keep in mind you won't get all the extras on the RG like you do on the Limited.

if you look in the parts manual, all touring bikes share the same triple tree. from road king to the eg ultra, and everything in between.
I believe they are the same tree but the rg is mounted trailing the pivot where the eg is forward of the pivot , they may have changed that but I didnt think so ill look at the eg later today and my road glide but on the older ones I know they were just not sure enough that harley didn't change it onn the newer ones. (I can't believe they wouldn't ask me first, I'll feel so left out

All the discussions I've seen regarding batwing vs. sharknose fairings are full of opinions and very subjective. There's very little objective data and it's mostly a matter of personal preference. With that said, I went from an '08 CVO Ultra to a '11 CVO RG Ultra. On my Ultra, I could never hear the stereo at speeds over 65 because of wind noise and the buffetting used to bounce my glasses enough to affect my vision. In heavy gusting wind conditions, it was difficult to keep the bike solidly in 1/3 of the lane or less. With the same windshield height on the RG, I have no wind noise or buffeting and the bike tracks much better in the gusty winds.

I think much of this can be attributed to the aerodynamics of the fairing and windshield. The batwing and its shield are nearly vertical. The RG fairing and shield have a much more pronounced angle which affects the windflow. Also, as previously noted, the front end feels much lighter at slow speeds because of the reduced weight on the forks.

There's no way to judge for yourself without riding one. If you can't rent or get a test ride from a dealer, maybe you could advertise locally to see if there's an owner that would let you test ride their's for some nominal consideration.

I agree 102%.

I hear that it feels more stable passing trucks and things like that. I love the feel of the EG, but I've never ridden the RG. I just can't see myself on one.

it always is. Some people like the murderous look, some like chrome, some like too much chrome (imo) some people like dressed up, others like bare nekkid bobber style...I kinda like them all, but some dressed bikes look better than others and so forth and so on. I've seen RGs done up in a way that it looks real good, but in general I don't like the look. I've also seen some Deluxe's (which I love the look of) that just look retarded to me. It's all in personal preference.

Like I've seen stated in another thread...what would this world be if we all rode the same bike and drove the same car?? [puke]
