Hopefully the family or friends will file for a wrongful death or something to that effect.

Shameful for the DA to devalue this mans life . I guess he deserves it because he rides. Shameful lack of up-holding the law.

 

I always get into disagreements on some of these cases because i dont beleive in throwing them in jail for life.....but dam this was pretty lenient especially since there was a no texting law in place...thats not the same as running a stop sign by accident....picking up a phone is no accident.It would seem AT LEAST they would yank the dudes license.---yeah this is kinda fk up'd.

I am so sick of hearing about accidents caused by texting, cell phone use. Who is so important that they can't turn off their phone while driving. Don't overlook the fact that they are also killing pedestrians, cyclist and other motorist.

 

Part of the problem lies with people like you calling this an "accident." There is no such thing as a vehicle accident. They are all crashes due to negligence. The texting cager INTENTIONALLY chose to NOT pay attention to the road.

When you stop calling them "accidents" and correctly call them crashes, it automatically becomes a much more serious issue.

 

Unbelievable! Not that it will bring a loved one back. Civil court, make him remember this for the rest of their lives...financially. The courts suck..What if the person was a member of the DA? Now would this turn out?
