Hopeful news about riding again!

I've had chronic back problems for about 30 years. 3 times so bad, walking was not an option. Chiropractic and care at Virginia Spine Institute have helped me avoid surgery. In July I had another bad episode, but with determination and PT, I was able to get back on the bike after about 3-1/2 weeks, and my doc did not dissuade me from doing so. Stick with the PT, do your exercises faithfully and before you know it, you'll be back in the saddle. But cripes, avoid the Beltway if at all possible, until the construction is done!

I had a really NASTY crash 10 years ago. Took me over a year of PT and lots of pain, but I made it back on the road. I was 48 then and POed at the world, and that made my situation all the tougher. You are young with a good outlook on life. You do what the Pt says, and you WILL make it back onto that beautiful Harley of yours!

Recover fully first! You're going to get back on no matter how long it will take because you sound so passionate about it!
We're excited for you to be able to get on your dream bike, but we definitely want you well. One suggestion is to try and do some extra back exercising/easy back strength training on the side instead of your physical therapy session. Just remember to take it easy.
Once you get back, share stories and pictures!

There is hope
There is hope! I had L5-S1 fusion in late summer 2005 and was riding the next spring. Just had C5-C6-C7 fused 5 weeks ago and was riding in 3 weeks, same surgeon the best in the area. Always been lurker but thought this was worth chiming in.
Good luck
