Default Feeling STOOPID!

Haven't been on the bike in 8 months, been sick with a throat problem, lost 50 lbs. and a lot of body strength. Was waiting for tomorrow to go to a local parking lot, and practice the basics. Well it was in the 70's in Jersey today, told my wife the only way to get back on, is to get back on, so I did.
But I was cautious, went 5 ways around the block in one direction, and 5 ways in the other direction. I said to myself, that's enough to get the feel of the thing, didn't want to push it, tomorrow's the real day! So I pull into my driveway, nothing there but empty asphalt, get half way to the garage,
and brain fart, I'm going down to my right. In the old days I could have held it, but I realized I had to let it down, so I did. Luckily I don't like riding with the lowers on, so no damage was done, and my 19 year old daughter helped me get it on the stand again, but I was really pissed at myself for such a dumb move, I guess I just lost total focus, and when you do that, the result is usually not very good. Well, at least I'll know what to practice at the parking lot!

Just be glad you learned from it and nothing serious happened to you or your scoot. Good thing someone was there to help you. You should read the post on how to lift your bike alone too. Hey, from one NJ idiot to another....don't sweat it.

My buddy dropped his bike on video. He took the RLAP course with me and we laugh about it now.

Practice not using your front brake at driveway speed. Good to hear nothing damaged and great to finally get back on the bike.

I'm sure you're not the first to have that happen. Just be careful out there. Just a thought, maybe you should hit the gym & get those body parts firmed up. God luck

...that's when you're soooo glad you have "crash" bars on your bike....imagine if that happened on a $40,000 IRON Horse?....can you say $10,000 in damage?.....take your time...little scats here and there until your strength is back...good luck

Let he who has not dropped his bike in the driveway cast the first stone. I don't know if you're able to do this, but after an accident 18 months ago my injured knee has gradually improved to the point that I can work-out with it. I got back into squats and other leg exercises, the same weight I was using before the accident, and these made a huge difference in my ability to keep the heavy SG upright. As important as improving strength, it's also restored my confidence to do it.
