Street Vibrations - couple pics from the other side of town
So we took a ride up to Reno to check out Street Vibrations. Really the only thing I knew about it was the Cathouse Run, possibility of NAKED DANCING GIRLS! oh heck yeah I'll ride for 9 hours.
We left yesterday around 11 am, not knowing that there was also a planned festival along US95 between LV and Reno of the Nevada state flower (the traffic cone).
At 3 separate points between Beatty and Fallon we were brought to complete stops and sat for 15-20 minutes each time waiting for pilot cars to guide us through construction zones. That along with my usual travelling attention deficit disorder (oooh! a tumbleweed, lets stop), brought our arrival to Reno up around 8:30PM. We checked into the Staybridge Suites south of downtown on 395.
After a quick ride over to Taco Bell for dinner we headed back and fell in behind a HOG group from Sacramento, notable because one of the girls had her HOG and Chapter patches done completely in rhinestones. Was really impressive, but not enough to where I thought to take a picture.
We got up this morning and made it to Reno Harley by 8:15 so we could be sure to be one of the first 250 to register and make sure we got our run pins (required to meet the minimum standard for posing). I actually ended up being #2, sweet, huh?
After signing up for the run, and picking up a poser-iffic Cathouse t-shirt I concluded the morning wannabe-fest by slipping over to the HOG booth (alright I admit it, I'm a member) and picking up my HOG pinstop pin. While admiring my awesome HOG pin I looked up and guess who I saw? Friggin Jax Teller, the world's baddest TV biker. Well okay it wasn't him, but it was a guy wearing an SOA t-shirt with a Cali bottom rocker. Putting my poserness to shame as he did, required me to pay homage to this master of pretend by immortalizing him on the interwebs below.
Since we didn't have a clue about the Reno and the neighboring towns we decided we would tag behind a group that knew where they were going. We slipped out with what we thought was an early group and started the run. They turned out to be a group from Canada, crap. They were more lost than us. Next we leeched onto the back of a group of VFW riders who happily guided us, only problem was they weren't doing the run. D'oh. Fortunately they lead us to Virginia City, which while it was supposed to be the next to the last stop on the run, was still a valid destination for us.
After parking our bikes we wandered the street until we located Union Brewery, at the opposite end of town from where we parked. I did manage to snap a couple of pictures in Virginia City, so the walk was good for something. We checked in and got our first punch in our ticket then headed back.
While walking back all the talk on the street was about the events the night before. This was the first we heard of it and it was a pretty serious buzzkill. The news itself as well as the amount of police on the street. We talked about skipping out on the rest, but decided to go ahead and make a go of it.
The next stops on our kinda backwards route were the Kit Kat and Sagebrush ranches in Carson City. They are co-located so it was another of those parking lot tour segments like the Bordello Run has. There were plenty of scantily clad female employees about, but by this time the run had really kind of become a bummer, so this time we did call it quits and decided to head back to LV early.
The weather for the ride home was pretty appropriate. From Tonapah to Beatty the rain was almost constant. It cleared up as we started rolling back into Vegas around 7:30 pm.
Well, hard to end on a happy note after that, sorry. But here are a few pics.

It's unfortunate, but most NAKED DANCING GIRLS! frown on having their picture taken without permission. And once permission is secured it's usually followed with the caveat, "you aren't going to post this on the internet". Dangit.
