Quick fix for chip in paint?
Dropped a wd40 can on my rear fender and nicked the paint.
I kno black nail polish is usually the go- to in these situations but I feel like that always comes out like ****.
I was thinking of masking off the whole bike save for that spot. Blankets and towels over the seat tank and bars, and newspaper over the rear fender with a small hole cut out over the chip...and hitting it with a quick shot of gloss black spray paint. Let it dry, repeat if necessary and wet sand to blend it.
Any reason this wouldn't work?

Why not just use the correct touch up paint for your bike? http://www.colorrite.com/content/bul...tions-1010.cfm

- A touch up from a non matching spray can will look like ****.
- Using the correct touch up paint/clearcoat, then wet sanding /buffing will be almost invisable

And it's further reason why I'm not gonna order touchup paint (couldn't tell you what kind of paint is on the bike anyway, it's not hd factory black)

I get what you're saying but the whole rear end is being torn down and changed in probably another few weeks which is why I'm not crazy upset about having f*cked up my paint.

For a paint chip,,,get the correct touchup paint,,the in a bottle with brush,,,get a good brush,, usually small artist brush,,touch up paint chip,,let dry,,touch it up again,,keep doing this until the touchup paint is higher that the original paint,,wet sand it flush with 1000 or 1500 wet sand paper,,,buff it out,,,works great,,,,
