just curious
Hey Guys/Gals
Seems like last week was thanksgiving and soon it will be Christmas. Oh wait...that's right...thanksgiving was just a few days ago and the fat man will be here soon. Which brings me to my point...spring is right around the corner and I want to be ready for the trip to Daytona.
My heritage has 9k miles...I keep hearing this stuff about changing the fork oil. What are the benefits and do I really need to do it? I read one other guy said he thought it was kinda like the changing the air in the tires...seems that way to me to. Am I missing something? Anybody done it and could you tell any difference? Talk to me.
Thanking you in advance.

If you only have 9k on the bike, I wouldn't worry about it yet,Unless yove done a lot of riding in the rain. Believe it or not water will find it's way through seals and contaminate your fork oil. I change mine every 20k. Went with a heaver scream'n eagle HP oil, Like it better for rough roads.
It does need changed (past 15k for sure tho), but I had a neighbor that put over 30k on his fork oil, and only changed it after asking someone about additional maintenance he should be doing (after replacing 2 starter motors - 1 old, replacement junk).
