Default Harley Will Start Leasing Bikes Soon

Just got this from sales guy at the stealer. Has anybody heard this ? I'm thinking why not they do it with everything from cars to fire trucks. I just do'nt know if this guy was BS ing me.

I think he was BS'ing you. Harley wants full price from the sale, why would they go to leasing.

Harley Winter Dealers meeting is going on right now. I will ask some of the guys when they get back.

I don't see Harley's financial division setting up for handling lease returns, auction sales, etc.

*IF* they could get an outside lender to step up, it could be possible. GE or one of the other larger leasing companies to carry the paper.

I have spent most of my life in the auto/motorcycle industry and just don't see it happening in the current economic times.

Pretty sure they've been leasing to police departments for years. I do understand that this isn't exactly the same thing.

When you lease the MFG actually sells the vehicle to a leasing Company so they get the full price for it.

That is totally not true. The leasing company simply handles the financing. So it will be handled through HDFS. The lease company owns the vehicle but the price is set by the customer and dealer. You are going to see some seriously ripped off customers LOL.

Because most guys who buy a BMW do not do mods. If you mod a leased vehicle you will lower the turn in value and get stuck with a huge bill at the end of the lease.
