Default Tires

My stock rear tire is shot at 4400 miles on my 2011 Fatboy. Got a quote from the dealer of 248 bucks for a new one. F*ck that. for 288.48 I ordered a front and rear Michelin Commander 2. My front tire is about 70% worn. I neglected to check my air pressure regularly. Looking forward to these tires, as I have read good things about them. I should add that I am a pretty aggressive rider. My rear probably has another 1k miles left but with my Daytona trip coming up I am not going to chance it.

I bought a Dunlop 402 rear last night from Jakewilson. $138. Was your dealer price including installation or is that just for a tire?

Harley Dealer, actual price of tire alone. They told me tires had just gone up.

WTF??? Shot at only 4400 miles??? Something is seriously wrong.

I have almost 15,000 miles on the original tires. But I check the pressures weekly and have Dyna Beads installed to keep them perpetually balanced.

Tires & brakes are THE 2 most important things on a bike.

Yeah, my fault. I will check the air pressure weekly from here on out. Not familiar with Dyna beads. GOnna look them up now.

FLHTC: My dealer just quoted me $575 for 2 Dunlop 402's installed.

An Indy just quoted me $400 for 2 Metzler ME880's installed.
I'm going with the Metzlers.

I stay away from dealers as much as possible unless it's an emergency and I have no other choice.
I understand the cost of the dealership and overhead, but it just seems like they try to intentionally pork you.

It was an MT90B-16. Couldn't tell you if it was 200 mm.
