Question Harley Trikes

I am 72 years old and own a 2002 Road King. My next bike will be a Harley trike, but I cannot afford a brand new one. My question is...Did Harley make "good" trikes in certain years. And...did Harley make "bad" trikes in certain years? Which years should I be looking at?

I've seen some nice Trike conversions! You might think about converting your RK! Do a google for Trike conversions! Motor Trike is one that comes to mind and there are others. Some aren't much more than training wheels and look odd to me. I would go with the true trike conversion if it were me!
a couple more! Lehman trikes. Champion Trikes

I don't know anything about trikes, but I'd just like to say that you're an inspiration. 72 years old, still riding and obviously NO intention to stop. That's awesome! I can only hope that I'll have that mindset and ability when I'm your age. Congrats & good luck with your trike!

Hd doesn't make the trikes per se, they provide the touring frame, engine, trans etc and Lehman builds the trike. They have been building them for years and make a good product. I believe they still offer the conversions also. As for the HD itself, I suppose there are good and bad years and various problems have cropped up and been taken care of, but not a problem linked to it simply being a trike. At least none I have heard of. I am only a few years behind you and have thought I might go to a sidecar. Not absolutely sure yet. Good luck and a thumbs up to you.

WRONG!

Harley started producing the Tri Glide in either 08 or 09. It is 100 % HD. Up until then, Lehman was in the production along with HD.

Nothing to add on the trike info but kudos on your commitment to riding.

I'm 72 & can still ride my Deuce with no problem even with my screwed up back, a Trike will probably be in my future. A can't answer your question but do you have any problems with riding your RK at present?

A guy I know who used to work at a shop that does trike conversions told me this the other day. The general consensus among their customers was that the conversion that they offered was a far superior product than the Lehman kit being used by Harley at the time. This would have been around 2010 sometime, and I have no idea if Harley trikes have changed at all since then. The kits they used are California Sidecar. That's what I heard. I have no firsthand knowledge. Take it for what its worth.
