MMO in gas - couple capfulls has worked for me 40 yrs. I have bikes 30-35 yrs old w/o any rust in the gastanks - I believe the MMO is the reason.
I've used/added it in oil to help sticky lifters but change oil after a 100 mi. or so.

I have used it in my gas for my bikes 3 oz every 5-10 tanks for the last 30 years. Used it in gas for my bikes 3oz approx. every 3 tanks on my ATVs for the 20 years and the ATV sit up a lot. I also put 3 oz in my gas can for my lawn mower. Guess what, I have never had to brake down a carb or rebuild the carb on any of these machines, never had to do valves or head jobs. I will continue to use it as long as they sell it.

For several years I added MMO into everything I had and thought I liked it. In '09, added a small amount to tranny of my new 96" Heritage and about 1k miles drained tranny and on top of the oil were several puddles of something not mixing with the factory oil. Got my neighbor, a German Genius Engineer to look, and he laughed and said, "You have added something that wouldn't mix with what you have." Never seen MMO do that before so I wonder what They put in my bike at factory. Not used MMO since.

Sounds like poor planning. What is so tough about keeping the correct spare oil on hand? And to be down a whole quart, between oil changes, suggests an engine problem. It also suggests that you don't check your oil often enough.

A whole quart of additive (realy poor choice) will have diluted your oil. At the very least you should change it immediately.

Just had the wrench install a new Andrews cam and the SE chain tentioner with new oil pump a few weeks back. I am not 100% sure he topped off the oil after having it apart for the work--he didn't charge me for it, so I am guessing not. The increased oil pressure may also be playing a hand in oil consumption-- not sure. In times past it would use a half a quart between 5,000 services. It has been about 1,000 miles since the service and about 300 miles since the engine work. I only added about half a cupful to the crank and about the same to the gas. Still got 14oz of the quart left, So I am not worried about the engine coming apart. Really not worried since I have plans for a 95" conversion soon anyway.

I've used it in my bikes in the gas tank but never in the crankcase. Modern motor oils have plenty of detergents to keep the inside of the motor clean.
