Anyone using additives in their EVO motor oil? I'm asking only because (thanks to the EPA) the basic formula has changed since the Evo went the way of the dinosaur. Products such as STP, ZMax, and others, are adding ZDDP back into the mix, which, as we all know, is good for the old girl. I know Donny Peterson is nay saying the SN SM rated oils because of Boron, but only because at the time of his writing his book on EVO's, the long term effect on motors using less zinc and more boron were unknown. So, again, I ask, "Anyone using additives in their motor oil"? I'm not, but only because my current oil, Valvoline dino 20W50 is an SJ rated oil. However, I'm told, shortly, all oils will all be SM.
I don't have an evo but I use TUFOIL. I use it in my bike and vehicles. I first start using it on my road king when I had it. I got 36 mpg. After TUFOIL I start getting 41 mpg. Suppose to be the slickest stuff. Tufoil.com
Recommended MC oils are all ok for the most part ,hope the TUFOIL has been improved as the last time I used a product like this it ended up in yhe bottom of my oil tank.
we use these - lucas oil as it has zinc -- ultma oil has zinc - Mobil 15 / 50 syn has zinc
you can add tuf oil to it if you like - as i am sure others have zinc in the oil we can get the ones i posted easy soo why go looking for something else -- johnjzjz
Yeah, the Seafoam post reminded me that I used to put Marvel Mystery Oil in my car's oil when I was a kid driving a '60 Pontiac and a '70 Buick. Something my grandfather made me do since he had been using it since the late 40's. Always leery about putting that stuff in the oil, though. Just never seemed like it should go in there! Gas, yeah, but oil?
