Combat boots as Motorcycle boots
My favorite ones, however, at the Danner Blackhawk which is essentially a short Ft. Lewis boot made for things like police, firefighter, postal workers, etc - also waterproof but not insulated. They are real comfy, easy to put on and will probably last me till they come cart me away.

I've got two Danners, one from cabela's like those above, but with speed laces, and a pair of Thoroughgoods - all leatherl All boots have great treads. After wearing Danners for 26 years I was glad to get the low ones - just perfect.
Cabelas occasionally runs specials, and I got my other Danners new off ebay, but make sure you know the size.

Many moons ago when I took my bad spill I was wearing combat boots. Not a scratch on my ankles. The rest of me was not so fortunate. >.<
I just wear the boots I'm issued as my duty gear now. Cheap *** Bates or 511s.
We are supposed to be going to Oakley boots soon.

Bates. Very happy with these and I wear them anytime I ride more than a quick jaunt to the store.
Surprisingly, found them at Walmart for $89. Comfortable, wear great (toe shifting hasn't screwed them up), very light and they grip the road very well.

combat boots, esp th eolder black leather ones, pre desert war work very well. Those are made better than most bike boots. I wear Matterhorns in fall & winter and Bates or combat boots in spring & summer.
Those are the boots they issue me Benway.
Just a warning, if you have foot problems (falling arches, etc) stay away from these boots. They don't have a shank in the soles and will break down under heavy use.
The lack of a steel shank is why we use them since we have to process through metal detectors every day.
