Default Laid Bike down

I laid my bike down on the way to lunch. I pulled away when the light turned green and a lady ran the red light while the car in the lane beside her's was stopped.

It bike stopped in the middle of the road with my foot stuck under bike. Thankfully several guys helped get the bike up and out of the middle of the road. The lady that ran the light stopped just thru the intersect and came back. She asked if she had run the light and all the guy together at the same time said "YES!!!" She said that she was sorry and wanted to know if she could do anything.

That is when I started lecturing her about needing to pay attention and get her head out of her @$$. And asked if she had ever been to a funeral of someone she killed. That is when she told be that her kids where in her car. I then asked her if she can relize what would have happened if an 18 wheeler had hit her when she ran that light. She started crying and was saying she was sorry. I just started my bike and went to lunch.

being that I was just running out to lunch I didn't have my long sleeves or gloves. But was lucky cause I only have a little road rash on my left elbow and few spots on my right hand knuckles. My left hip is a little sore where I landed on my pocket knife.

I was surprised that there wasnt much damage to the bike. scratches on the crash bar, twisted back left hi-way peg, few scratchs on the bottom if primary cover, loosed mirror and rear peg, and scratched and popped out rear LED signal.

I start vacation in 30 minutes for a week of cave diving so I hope that I am not too sore the next few days.

Glad you're OK.
Please tell me you got all her insurance info before you left the scene in case you or the bike need repairs.

I'd have gotten her insurance info and had a police report filed and made her insurance pay to replace anything damaged.

Glad you're ok. Usually a good idea to look both ways before pulling away from a stop light/sign. Morons run those things all the time.

yup... i always follow the 2/3 second rule..... once the light turns green look each direction as you wait a few secs, then take off.
