Default Riding on Large Runs and Groups

We lost a fellow biker yesterday and thoughts and prayers go out to his family and young children.

Please be careful out there when riding in large groups and on large runs etc.

Sad to hear someone was lost. I never go on large runs because there are too many people that do not know how to ride in a pack. Very dangerous situation.

Condolences to friends and family.

I'm not real comfortable riding in a close formation so I beg out and tend to bring up the rear.

WOW...sad deal for all involved & during charity event ride. Group rides are awesome events, but can turn tragic quickly (as in this case). Ride safe!

So sorry for the family of the downed rider. Seems like it’s becoming a regular thing now days.
I've been riding for a long time with out a mishap. Some times I feel luck has been with me and other times it could have been my awareness and some skills that have kept me from being a casualty. We have an opportunity to ride this weekend for a MDA ride and I’m having serious second thoughts. I know that the benefit rides are for a good cause so maybe I’ll make a donation and simply go my own way. Hats off to the folks who organize these large rides for giving unselfishly their efforts, but I’m getting a little weary of folks who party to much along the way. Just sayin !!!

Article is not clear on what happened. Looking at the pictures, it appears the motorcycle and the SUV collided at a rather strange angle. Condolences to the rider's family.

From reading the comments it appears he was a road captain racing, on the wrong side of the double yellow, to get to the front of the pack and collided with a van at the crest of a hill.

Oh...wow. Thanks. I didn't see the comment section. This really underscores our responsibility to keep safe when riding. It's not always the cage's fault.

I hate hearing about loss of life on a bike. Sometimes the rider was doing something stupid and other times there was nothing the rider could have done different. I used to like the large packs, but not so much anymore, just too many different riding styles to deal with. I still go on group rides sometimes just because I enjoy the socializing at the stops along the way, but when it's time to go, I prefer to keep with a small group of riders I'm comfortable with.
