Default Forged risers break in two @ 45 mph

I was heading out to a local bike night and my risers decided to snap into 2 pieces leaving me holding onto my apes not connected to the front end anymore. I had just twisted the throttle to hear the rumble of my pipe under a bridge and when exiting I hit a manhole cover. The risers snapped, the front end began to wobble, but after a 100 feet or so I laid it down after slowing to about 10-15 mph..a little roda rash on a elbow and knee..and some scrapes on the bike..but nothing to serious..

Has anyone ever heard of this happening or expierenced themselves ??

I have Wild 1 12.5" apes on 1.5 risers..They were forged..Just ordered solid billet with a blind hole..1 1/4" at the base..

Don't want that to happen again !

Holy ****!!!

I used to race cars and mechanical failures are something you never want to happen, but they do.

Yours is a grandaddy as far as mechanical failures go.

Glad I wasn't riding it and glad you're ok.

Are these "namebrand" risors, OEM or E Bay Chinese specials?

They don't look forged, they look cast.

Holy ****! (look I censored myself but you all know what I mean, so start a thread about what I did)

I've never seen that before! Never even heard of it! I've had bars slip, but that takes it to a whole new level. I'm glad you're okay!

1)If thats OEM I'd look for a lawyer
2) I dont ride apes, but if you think about it, and I did, apes on the trees are like a cheater bar on a wrench.
your getting on it under a bridge, full throttle, all that torgue and a ful grown mans body weight. Its doesnt sound impossible anymore

I'm glad your OK

You're a sneaky **** (there's that self censoring again). lol

I have never heard of a set of risers failing. And not just one, both! I'm sorry you laid the bike down, but this sure could have ended a lot worse.

Tell us more about those risers.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might look into some billet risers for my beach bars. I'll never break that **** then! (see what I did there?)

That's effing crazy! You need a change of shorts after that? Can't imagine holding on to the bars and they're no longer connected to anything. Good job staying upright on it for as long as you did.
