Hypothetical question
Say it's a nice Saturday afternoon, you make a run to the local Harley dealer for a few parts. There are maybe 100 Harleys in the parking lot.
Of the 100, how many do you think do not have the ignition locked? In other words, how many could be started and ridden away?

Well, lets figure that maybe only a percentage of the bikes there have the dash switch instead of the keyed ignition. And of that percentage of bikes, another percentage of bikes would probably have the installed security system. And of that percentage of bikes, only a small percentage would have the owner/fob nearby so that it could be started.
I think it would be a small percentage.

I'd say a definite majority--70% or even more. As screwed up as this sounds I don't lock it up all the time. Usually only in other than good 'hoods or if it's going to be out of site for any length of time. Quick bop into the kwik shop not usually.
Crap didn't get in before DZ added all of the parameters. I'll add this: my comment only applies to those without security systems, keyed ignition, or fobs. Just the ones with the ignition on the tank. Damn DZ why you making things so difficult?

I've got into the habit of locking both ignition and forks always, unless I am sitting right by where I've parked. I agree why make it easy to steal mine.
