That's about right for sprocket life . 70's when all you could get where Diamond or the farm supply house chain I was going through one every 5000 miles or so any more and they let loose . Some times you'd go 4 chains to a sprocket change average . 80's with oring chains becoming common 10,000 miles was good life with a 2 to 1 change out ratio .

90's saw the big influx of china crap and sprocket life went away unless you spent 3 times what they should cost if you could find a good one . Upside was oring technology came way up , the top of the line tsubaki I ran could go 15K plus if you took care of it . Last time I did a change out the chain was $200 and the sprockets went another $140 ( US made parts no import crap ) or so and this was 12 years ago .

I'm still fairly new to the belt systems on my sled but I change it out every 3 years , figure with the way I tend to ride it it's cheap insurance against the old thumb up the *** waiting for a tow deal .

I still prefer a chain....then again I ride out of state constantly and have been stranded. I'll take the quirks of a new O ring chain set-up over being SOL by a belt. I have seen properly installed belts break at 10,000 so being new doesn't really seem to matter

The little clip is cute, but is unlikely you will have a clean enough break to use it. Harley used to make an emergency belt...but it seems they no longer make it....but they show up on ebay from time to time.
