Default flush mount fuel cap and gauge

Hi everyone I know this has been talked about befor and when they first came out there was an issue with the lights in the fuel gauge burning out and If I rember some were have a problem with water getting into the fuel tank through the fuel cap? has anyone had any problems recently? I think most of these problems were a few years back. Also I dont really care if the fuel gauge lights work or not I probley wont even hook them up I''m going to install the speedometer/tach combo which has the fuel gauge with it I'd prefer a real gauge over lights anyway but if anyone has had any problems recently I'd like to hear about it btw I have an 06 Heritage Classic

I had a set on my 2006 Fatboy and had no trouble with the gage or water leaking. I did occasionally have trouble making the gas filler pop up. It seemed to stick when I tried to give it the half turn to make it release. I was always able to get it to pop up, but some of the time it was not easy.

I put mine on over two years ago. All of the lights work and no water in the gas. BTW though, why would you spend the money on these particular flush mounts if you're not going to hook up the fuel gauge? It's not free....you (will have) paid for it. It's so simple to install and takes about 10 minutes.

Ditto! I have the HD flush mounts for about 5+ years. Worst money I ever spent on the bike. Down to one light now and have replaced the fill escutchen already. The chrome peeled off the original. When it first peeled it cut my palm open pretty good one day at a gas station. When all the chrome was gone it cracked in two. Always had trouble keeping it affixed.

Someday when I'm bored I may take a look at it to see if there are any loose connections.

My gas cap would not stay together. Removed them from my bike. Like someone said, the worst waste of money I have spent on my bike.

They upgraded them a couple of years ago.

I had problems with the older style, newer ones working good so far.

I had them on my Deuce and now on my King with out issue. If you don't hook up the flush fuel gauge the fuel gauge on the speedo tach combo won't work.

I'm sure there's a work around out there somewhere.
