Need 1960 Duo Glide info
I've got a 1960 Duo Glide that my Dad bought from the original owner in 1966. He did very little to it as far as add-ons. Mostly changed/updated whatever was necessary to keep riding it. Bike is in excellent shape. Trying to find out how I can get info on the original equipment/configuration, what is stock, what is not, options the bike might have come with etc. Appreciate any help.

I had a 1961 Duo Glide. Stock, they are about like a Road King is today. The windshield was acrylic with a bead around the edges. Driving lights were incandescent bulbs, as were the headlight and tail light, turn signals. The saddlebags were rounded with metal decorations. Some had a steering dampener **** at the handlebar tee. I had a 1956 (rigid frame) that looks pretty much like the 61 Duo Glide except for the shocks. See picture. Ignore the leather bags.

The single best source of information is Bruce Palmers " How To Restore Your Harley Davidson". It is currently being updated so do not buy an available one on Amazon.com for some overe-inflated price. Stay away from J&P or V-Twin...they have only profit margin in mind; they could care less about truly original components.

Sorry ... took a while to round some up.
To clarify I'm not looking where to buy parts. I'm interested in finding out how close the bike is to being completely original. I know the bags are not stock, maybe some of lights, possibly the seat but I don't know what was original equipment or possible options.
