Default Interest rate went from 16.75 to 7.95%

My son who is in the ARMY talked me into changing banks from Union Bank to Navy Federal Credit Union.

While I was signing up, I asked about a refinance on my Harley loan. I have been turned down several times with different banks. The lady tells me sure, runs everything and instantly tells me I was approved for 7.95%.

I had paid two years on a seven-year load with Harley Credit Corp. I had five years left on the loan. I refied today for five years at 7.95%. It dropped my payment $58.72 a month; over the life of the loan, I saved $3523.20 and i get to skip September's payment.

Today was a good day!

I can't believe anyone would pay almost 17% to buy a bike. I guess that is why my newest car is an '03 and my bike is an '00. I pay cash for everything I buy except my main home.

Paying that high an interest rate would be a start in the direction you want him to fall into.

Military related credit unions are awesome. If you are a veteran, or related to one check them out.
LARGEST MILITARY CREDIT UNIONS
*assets as of Nov. 30, 2009
Navy Federal Credit Union, 3.4 million members; $40 billion in assets
Pentagon Federal Credit Union, 937,041 members; $14 billion in assets
Navy Army Federal Credit Union, more than 75,000 members; $900 million in assets

Good I guess, but it should be around 3.5 to max of 4% If you must finance.
