Default I need a Harley Historian

Some time back I looked at a evo bagger that was supposedly a firemans edition. It had a small badge on the front fender and was red.I was discussing with some friends today and was told it wasnt factory Harley. So after massive internet goggling I have came up that 2002 was the first official year for these editions--------------------Can someone confirm or deny the years for the fireman editions???I was also positive the shriners editions went back to the 60s but I was also told that I was mistaken.I should of checked the vin as I know all vins end with J on these bikes.Any one have any info to add?

I think I'd check this statement. To my knowledge no vin ends with an alpha character.

and after looking at that site it listed no fireman's listed or Jin the vin end.I wonder if they group the fireman's in with the peace officers vin wise?

This site seems to indicate the model designation rather than vin designates whether police or fire. About half way down the page

thanks OKMICK-------------------------------if what I interpret this to say is 2002 was the first year for the official firemans edition. So what I saw must of been a red bagger with a aftermarket badge of some sorts

IIRC there is a special insert on the tank console for the FF editions.

HD makes a crapload of fire, cop, military covers and stuff to decorate the bike with, maybe what you saw was something from that line of products.

I don't know what year they started them but my FLHTCU is an "FL" vin the same as a Shrine or peace officer. I do know they made a "Blue Knight" bike long before a fire edition. I think the Blue Knight bikes were around '87 to '90 but I'm not sure.

I have an '06 firefighter edition. The only "firefighter" item I haven't removed is the tank decals,[because they are under the clear]. I see nothing special about the vin,but under "model #" it is called a "FLHT-SHRN"
