Paint code for vivid black

Default Paint code for vivid black

Does anyone know what the paint code is for Vivid Black. Apparently the MOCO is a but reluctant to give out the info

Black is Black when it comes to paint. Even when you call it "Vivid Black" it's still Black. Pure Black, which is what "Vivid Black" is, is the only color that doesn't need to be color matched.
duPont 99K or whatever you want to cross it to will work just fine for ya.

Not trying to be a ***** but this is wrong. Many shades of black these days. I know for a fact that the Dupont 99K has a lot more blue tint then vivid black. I think PPG 9850 is a pretty close match. The Dupont color was a Chrysler color code if I remember correctly.

I think what is meant here is black is black if it doesn't have any tint in it. Just ask your jobber for straight black basecoat. When my jobber does it for me the decal on the can always has a chrysler code but he told me gm has a true black also.

Somebody I know thought "black is black." He now knows that his inner isn't the same color as his outter fairing.
