Default Picking the right bike

I have decide 15 years without a bike is long enough. I am looking at two bikes and would like the good the bad and the ugly of either choice.
Bike one
2002 Electra glide 41,000 miles for 8900
2007 Electra glide 16,000 miles for 13900
Both bikes are in good condition.

There is more to choice besides miles, year and price.
More information would help in the decision.
Welcome first time poster.

I can't decide for you without inspecting both. I will say my 02 was the best HD I've ever had over 135k on it without opening it up. My pop had 150+k on his,and the bike is still going.

Better check the thread about a friend who had a wobble. That is where the bagger experts are.

Welcome first poster.
Being new to Harley's I am not sure what I should be asking. Both bikes run well and look well taken care of. Any suggestion on what a should be asking would be appreciated. Thanks

Generally, I like to get the newest bike that fits my budget. But I don't know of any red flags with the 02 other than maybe cam chain tensioners. Like any 10+ year old vehicle, just do your best to make sure it has been properly maintained. I'm not sure how good a deal the 07 is, but my only complaint would be that it's so close to the 09 redesign that I would either spend extra for a newer one or save cash and get an older one like the 02.

I would suggest getting good pictures of both bikes from all sides. Get as much detail of each bike as you can, service records, list of modifications, repairs, etc. Then, take all that info and share it with the boys on the Touring Forums for your best advice.
They both sound like decent buys. Good luck...

Webbie,

What were you riding 15 years ago? Some history of your experience would help us give advice.

Honda magna , Gold wing
Intruder and a CBR
My wife loves touring bikes because she feels safe. She would love another gold wing but I want a Harley which she is good with as long as it comfortable. Probably put 5k to 8k a year on the gold wing in New England

We will probably do day trip maybe a three day weekend per summer. I would guess 3 to 5k per year. What ever I buy i plan on keeping for five years then upgrading when a second son is out of the house.
