Not everyone likes chrome. Most riders keep the black switch housings with the black switch caps. To each his own.

I have never heard of anyone breaking a chrome switch cap installing it, but, I imagine it is possible. The stock black switch caps are somewhat flexible and can be removed with little difficulty. As far as the chrome switch caps are concerned, they are not as flexible. In my experience, they go on relatively easy but I have not been successful at removing a chrome switch cap without cracking it.

The moral of the story is: before you push that chrome switch cap on, make sure it is on the correct switch and right side up. If it cracks, your only option, if you want another chrome cap, is to purchase a new chrome switch cap KIT just to replace the ONE broken one.

I think the CO would sell more custom grips if they made 'em easier to change. Like a hollow sleeve for the throttle, & grips that you slide over the end & secure in place with set screws, like their axle nut covers. People would buy 3 or 4 pairs, then change 'em out every once in a while.

I helped the some change out the buttons on his 07 Deuce.. Wench said only takes 1/2 hr...
BS it took both of us to 2-3 on his bike.. and there are time when you need 5 hands...

I've heard some of the pre-07 bikes,, they were easier to do...

I thought about replacing the switch caps with the chrome ones (can't afford the whole chrome housings). Then it dawned on me that it would just be a bunch more little stuff to have to clean and polish. So mine are staying black.

I agree. I prefer the black switches with the black housing.

Whenever I see a bike with black switches and housings the first thing I think to myself is "damn, this cat needs chrome switches and housings". I think they look way better than black, but that's just me. To each their own

I have grips that are held on by a grub screw and find no reason to change them out even though it is easy to do so.

personally, i'm glad they don't. i prefer my black switches. after all the pressing you'll be doing on the switches, the chrome plating is gonna wear off and then it'll look even worse than the stock black. besides, i prefer black over chrome anyway.

we're not all chrome ****** ya know

I've heard the button/switches are hell to change but the housings aren't. But I doubt I'll ever change mine at all.
