ORIGINAL: Bujin

I changed from allstate this past november to Farmer's. saved 150.00 on my truck and almost 500.00 on my 05 roadking. and got better coverage on the bike than I had before,,, I changed the house over too but didn't save anything there. I've had allstate, erie, progressive and statefarm, and none of them were able to beat Farmer's.

damn bujin what do you pay to save 500.00 a year? I live in ga and pay 559 this year down from 602 last year. That's on a o5 n-train with max. limits on everything which includes replacing harley parts with harley parts should the need arise.got state farm for everything.

Heres the deal. I called my agent and was told that "Allstate adjusted their rates". Did not matter that we have been with Allstate for 25 years, I have no tickets or accidents, nor does it matter that Allstate insures three of our houses, my shop, three automobiles, one motor home, and two motorcycles.
I can understand that they are in the business to make money but not doublethe policy.
I now have the same coverage with Progressive at half the cost of Allstate effective April 1st.

I guess I have to add my WTF to this thread also. I got my GEICO renewal the other day, $647.00 for the policy here in NY, and that's with over $150.00 in discounts for no accidents, MSF courses, safe rider, and on and on. Seemed pretty costly, so I check with Foremost and Markel. Foremost comes in at $406.00 for better liability, SUM, med pay coverage on the bike and a lower comp/collision deductible to boot with more coverage on the accessories. Markel wants $456.00 for the same coverage as my current GEICO policy. I dropped Progressive last year as GEICO was a lot less, now this? Progressive was going to re-rate my Dyna to a higher class because of a 95" build.

Being in this industry for my entire adult life, I know enough to check apples to apples coverage and they are all over the map. Oh well, looks like Foremost gets my business.

AAA insures 4 vehicles , my house and a RV for me , they wanted 2X what Foremost wanted to insure my HD , not a chance !

Some insurance companies will "under-price" their policies in certain areas and as long as their claims history and their investment returns stays fairly level....they're ok. A big shift in one or the other and you'll get what happened to you. I had a similar situation happen with me a few years ago.I had Dairyland. They were by far the cheapest I could find. Had them a number of years...then "BAM"...got my renewal in the mail and it literally doubled. If that happens and your driving record and claims history is clean...shop around. State Farm did this in Eastern Ky with auto insurance back in the late 80's, early 90's and it killed them. Sounds like your situation with Allstate was bad field underwriting or bad actuaries. Oh, and BTW when that situation happens....your 25 yrs of bizmeans no more than the new guy wanting a quote/new policy.

Mine also went down this year from AARP Foremost by $100. It was $500 last year and $400 this year when I paid it in January.

My Sporty was insured with Safeco, and cost me $389.00/Yr.When I traded up to the RK,Safeco raised my rate to $805.00/yr.Geico sold me the same policy for $325.00/yr,so I told Safeco to stuff it.
