Default Not longer a lane splitting virgin....

Woo hoo I finally graduated!

Got up on the freeway this morning and it was dead stop due to a minor accident. I wedged my way over to the middle lane and was able to split between the fast lane and the middle lane (3 lane section of freeway). I went 3 exits (about 3 miles) before the traffic broke

I was nervous and a bit slow but I think I did pretty well for my first time. I did let a few other bikes pass me but following them gave me a bit more confidence.

It's illegal here in MA. Not that I'd do it anyway, but......

I figure if the traffic is moving at 30 mph or better I probably won't bother...but the traffic was pretty much stopped so I thought it was a good time to try it. Only one place was it a bit tight with a slowly weaving work truck.

Way to go Bluerose!! I just try to keep as alert as possible and always be prepared to stop. If you rev the engine a little, many driver's will open up your path.

I gotta say that even if it was allowed in Missouri no way I go there...IMO your just asking for a problem. More power (and prayers) to those that do, you've got bigger nads than I'll ever have.

I don't know. I lived in San Diego for 17 years and always stuck to one of my rules: I don't put my bike where I wouldn't put my car. It's worked for me so far.

Good for you BlueRose! When the cages can't move, there's not much risk.

Before the Lane splitting wars start.

I don't think you are goingto see me jamming at 50 mph between lanes. I do however see the benefits in some situations.

I do see both sides but honestlyI think if done properly its reasonable and no more dangerous then some of the other types of riding we do.
