Default Installing back rest

Didn't get much of a response on the softail board. I am wanting to install a backrest on my 2007 Fat Boy. This is my first Harley and want it done right. Is this easy to do? Pretty basic?Should I have it installed? My daughter is 11 and don't want here falling off.

If you are comfortable using basic tools and can read the installation instructions that come with it and the service manual, it should be no problem.

Just installed one on my bike last weekend, took about 2 hours with no instructions and the removal of my bags, which I had to drop the rear suspension to do.

If you can use a ratchet set you will be fine.

Hell no. 2 hours is riding time. I'll just give the dealer $50 and be on my way!

If you can get to your dealer wait for them to install the sissy bar and be out in 2 hours or less for under $50 than you have the most amazing dealership around.

Hell I had to drop my bike off for 2 days in order to get my 1k mile service last year.

I wish we had those labor rates at dealers around here.

One of the easier mods to complete. Only problem will be if you have to relocate the turn signals. I did on my Softail Standard to have clearance for the quick-disconnect rails.

Just be warned, those instructions (if you bought Genuine HD) that come with the detachable docking hardware absolutley suck big hairy biker ***. So read carefully before proceeding.
