Default Damaged Bike...

Heading back to Chicago today, doing about 50, hit what I thought was just a patch of new pavement, it was sunk in and when I hit the other side (where it meets the old pavement) I almost put the bike down, I came right off the seat. The front rim is damaged and the front end feels funky. I run tubes so the tire didn't blow out. I hit the back end hard too when I was coming out of the dip. There was a ridge on the exit side of the patch and it is a lot worse then it looked.... What a bummer!

That would suck. Sounds like the road crews did a shitty job. Did the forks bend?

WTF... no warning sign about abrupt pavement ahead? Did the idiot road crew forget people ride motorcycles? That sucks your front rim is bent, be sure and give the back one an extra good looking over.

Sorry to hear about your 'accident' - happy to read you didn't go down. Might be worth your while to pursue legal action against the county/state. Note the exact location, take pics of the offending roadwork and your damages, and file a claim. Hope it works out for you.

File a claim with Chicago streets and sanitation they should have an online form show pictures of the rim and get estimates for repair then take down location of the grade difference pictures if possible then wait 1-2 years then they might get back to you and reimburse you for the damage, I grew up in Chicago and that is about the time frame for settling these claims. Sorry about your damage but glad you are not hurt and the bike stayed upright.

Damn Galdog that sucks big time but I'm glad you're OK physically. Let us know how the bike repairs go. Best of luck brother.
