Default Is vivid black always the same?

So I've looked everywhere and none of the forum information or other Googled pages tell you if Harley Davidson "Vivid Black" always maps to the same PPG paint code.

I found the code 1850 for model years up to and including 2007, which maps to PPG 1683.

But, I have a 2011 Road King Classic that I need to match the color of. Some pages give a different Harley code.

The question is, is it simply true that "vivid black" is actually the same for all model years?

Thanks!

Thanks Larry. I looked that thread over and the most they come up with is that Chrysler Black matches best. No mention of what year range it matches best to. Nor do they ever state anything about whether or not Harley has changed Vivid Black over the years.

So, my question remains. Is Vivid Black of the 2007 model year the same as 2011 and even 2016 Vivid Black?

Thanks!

Scooter, according to HD the answer is yes?? I have painted several vivid blacks years ago and PPGs DMD1683 basecoat black matched well. Just painted my 14 bags and not even close compared to the lids. Not sure when but seems to me HD has grayed the color up. I am working on a better match now. I also checked color on a 09 VROD and color was the same as my 14. Im thinking around 06 color was changed.

Have you come up with anything. I am having troubles myself. My 13 is one of the greyed Vivid Black bikes. Looks black without direct light but then turns a grayish hue. PPG 9850 will not work. Not the first time I've run into it with this bike but I forgot last time to get the code that matched pretty damn well. I know he custom mixed it but he's forgotten what he did.
