Default Fork mount signal install question

Whats the easiest way to lower my front forks on my 2016 dyna to mount my joker machine fork mount signals? Is it necessary to remove my axle and wheel?

The signals are the joker machine fork mounts http://www.jokermachine.com/harley-d...er-lights.html

Any tips?

Cheers

This is going to be a long one

Is it necessary to remove the wheel - strictly speaking - no..., but it will make things a whole lot easier

And you may need to remove the brake caliper - depending on the brake cable length

============

What you didn't say - are you planning to mount the signal lights just below the upper tree..., between the upper and lower...., just above the lower..., just below the lower

This is going to make all the difference in the world

==============

Never the less

Place the bike on a jack..., jack it up till the wheels about an inch or so off the ground

Strap it down tight - especially the front..., so it doesn't raise when the forks removed..., and the bike becomes *** end heavy..., then tries to fall off the jack backwards

Remove the brake caliper and wheel - takes longer..., but make it easier for you to manhandle the forks off..., and back on

Remove the fender - so both forks are independent of one another

Loosen one side's lower pinch bolt..., then that same side's upper pinch bolt (order doesn't really matter) but what does is that as you loosen the last of these two pinch bolts on one side - you hold firmly onto the fork as it will want to slip down

Once loosen slide it down carefully (this is where scratches could occur - if the do no biggie it only war wounds)..., install the signal light at the desired location..., slide fork back up into position

Important

Before removing either fork - measure the distance the fork currently above the upper tree - reinstall at that same exact distance..., not close - exactly

Torque the pinch bolts to factory spec - top is a different setting than the bottom - be sure to torque in stages - iow don't go all ape on it - all at once

====================

Repeat for the other fork

Then reinstall fender..., wheel..., brake caliper

Wire up the lights... test..., you're off to the races

May seem complicated - it ain't..., just take patience and attention to detail

Wink

Further to Ghosts instructions, once you have the forks and wheel back in place, tighten the top tree clamp bolts, to secure the tops of the legs. Only nip up all other fasteners, do not torque them up just yet. With your bike back on the ground, apply the front brake and pump the forks up and down a few times. This will align the tubes in the bottom tree and minimise the risk of the fork legs binding. Then torque everything to spec. Hope that helps!
