Do you use RTV on the Primary cover gasket?

Done - job wasn't bad at all. I was able to get to the Stator without taking the clutch pack off, so it really simplified the process.

I am glad I had an impact wrench to get the main bolt off!

I say no way. I'm an old school mechanic and was taught not to touch the stuff, just say no. Also worked on a dozen or so bikes specifically to remove sealant that was blocking oil return passages. Leakers would leak even with it. Surfaces and gaskets have come a long way since then and stock material is always better, knock on wood.

I use wheel bearing grease , just a VERY light film, to hold the gasket in place, and remember a torque wrench is your friend if you want to stop leaks and stripped bolts!
